Configurations and capabilities

The Packinox+ is available in two different configurations, each with its own unique design to target different temperature ranges. Plus, thanks to our robust, compact, designs we can cater to applications of all sizes, without compromising on productivity. Read on to find out exactly how a Packinox+ can help you improve the energy efficiency of your specific applications.

Packinox plate-and-shell

The plate-and-shell version has the plate pack inside a cylindrical pressure shell, allowing for higher design pressures (> 70 bar/1,015 psi) and higher design temperatures (> 400°C). The differential pressure between the two streams can be up to 70 bar, and the total design pressure is determined by the pressure vessel.

Packinox plate-and-frame

The plate-and-frame version has the plate pack sandwiched between two frame plates with tie rods and is intended for applications with lower design pressures (< 70 bar/1,015 psi) and design temperatures (< 400°C/750°F). The maximum total pressure, as well as the maximum differential pressure, is 70 bar.

Capabilities

Thanks to its unique design, a Packinox+ offers outstanding performance in a compact unit. A single Packinox+ heat exchanger offers the same heat transfer capacity as multiple shell-and-tube heat exchangers with an equivalent heat transfer area of up to 35,000 m2.

Thanks to the design flexibility with counter-current flows and multi-pass configurations, a Packinox+ heat exchanger can operate with crossing temperatures, which in combination with a highly turbulent flow maximizes heat recovery.

The maximum operating temperature is 500°C (930°F), and the maximum differential pressure between the flows is 70 bar.
